I am an artist and teacher based in Falmouth (UK) and Madrid (ESP).
I am primarily concerned with drawing and painting aspects of the world around me. I have always been committed to working directly from observation; revising and re-working the image in an attempt to resolve the tension between my commitment to visual fact and my concern for pictorial structure.
I have been an Academician at the Royal West of England Academy since 2005.
I am an Associate Lecturer at Falmouth University, where I teach drawing (mainly life drawing) and painting. I have taught on various courses, including; Foundation in Art & Design, BA Illustration, BA Drawing, BA Architecture, BA Interior Design, BA Graphic Design, BA Fine Art and MA Design. I taught an humanities module in life drawing for post-graduate medical students at the Peninsula Medical School, Truro.
I am also a tutor at St Ives School of Painting, where I run various workshops in painting and drawing.
My other interests are playing classical piano, photography, rock-climbing, mountaineering, long-distance hiking and cycling.
